Japanese eyewear designer Masahiro Maruyama launched his eponymous line in 2011 and has since grown it to four collections crafted with traditional techniques, inspired from hand-drawn sketches. In the Kawada ward of Sabae city, Fukui prefecture, established craftsmen produce these frames with traditional techniques, such as Ding-style. Intentional dissymmetry is introduced to create truly unique frames and fulfill the concept of unfinished art. Besides the functionality of the glasses, the overall balance of the frame and the expression of the design is made possible by the technical skill of the artisans.
